Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers should think long and hard about signing Ryan Kent in January.

When The Record reported in October that Rangers would have to pay £2 million for Ryan Kent, it seemed like a potential bargain.
After all, Kent, on loan at Rangers from Liverpool, was swiftly becoming a major player for boss Steven Gerrard and a firm fan favourite among the Ibrox faithful.
With January around the corner, it’s only a matter of time before the subject of Kent joining the Gers on a permanent basis surfaces again.
But Gerrard should think long and hard before he spends £2 million on a player whose injuries are starting to get a bit worrying.
Kent missed over a month of action until making his return in the 1-1 draw at Dundee on Sunday, but the 22-year-old lasted only 45 minutes.
He has not travelled with the Blues’ squad for tomorrow’s Europa League encounter with Rapid Wien and Gerrard revealed in his press conference that he is now out for at least two more weeks with a different hamstring problem.

It’s entirely possible that Kent won’t play for Rangers again until after the winter break and, simply put, they would be crazy to take a £2 million plunge in January.
Back-to-back hamstring injuries does not sound all that promising and although his career is hardly in jeopardy, the Gers don’t need to drop that sort of money until he’s fit and firing.
Lord knows there are other areas of the squad which Gerrard and Director of Football Mark Allen could improve with that amount.
Liverpool don’t need Kent. He will still be there for Gerrard – who has first refusal on Reds players [The Record] – in the summer and only then should the topic be broached.
