Borna Barisic hasn’t been a huge hit at Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers.

Borna Barisic of Rangers looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premier League between Celtic and at Ibrox Stadium on December 29, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

It’s fair to say that Borna Barisic hasn’t been a roaring success at Rangers.

The Croatia left-back joined Rangers for £2.2 million last summer [The Record] and it looks like Steven Gerrard might be considering cutting him loose already.

According to Herald Scotland, Barisic is one of three players who received a ‘withering dressing down’ from Gerrard, who is willing to offload them.

But would it be a mistake? Potentially.

Barisic hasn’t been perfect by any means, but he has shown potential and one season in Glasgow is nowhere near enough to judge him.

He moved to Ibrox from Croatia and therefore a bedding-in period was always going to be necessary.

The 26-year-old has six caps for his country and one of his former managers, Davor Rupnik, said that he has a left foot like Lionel Messi [The Scottish Sun].

Rupnik considers himself a mentor of the defender. In other words, he has known him a lot longer than Gerrard and the Gers boss can’t get rid yet, not before he knows exactly what he is getting rid of.
