Glasgow Rangers are reportedly interested in bringing Fran Sol to Ibrox in January.

The Gers only have two senior strikers. And given Kyle Lafferty’s struggles since returning to Ibrox in the summer, it is no surprise that signing a new forward is on Gerrard’s to-do list when the window opens.
And Sol would arguably be a fantastic addition. He has scored 12 goals in the Eredivisie this term, but Rangers face plenty of competition for his signature.
One of the sides also interested is Derby County, according to the Sunday People. With Frank Lampard at the helm and the Rams well in promotion contention in the Championship, heading to Pride Park will surely appeal to Sol.

And while losing out to the Rams would be a blow for Rangers if he does end up joining Derby, perhaps a move there should tempt Gerrard to ask about the possible return of a former Gers striker.
Martyn Waghorn only joined Derby from Ipswich Town in the summer. The East Anglian Daily Times reported that he could cost up to £7.5 million, with the initial fee set at £5 million.
Waghorn started the season as a regular fixture in Lampard’s plans. However, he has not started a game since early November – he was briefly sidelined with injury – and he has been an unused substitute in three of the last four games.

He is clearly still in Lampard’s thoughts, but his game-time may perhaps become even more limited if Sol ends up joining in January, and thus, Rangers should at least ask whether they can loan the forward.
Waghorn never seemed to be able to win over all of the supporters during his time with the Gers, but he did leave with a very decent record of 44 goals in 78 games in all competitions.
And while he will currently be looking to fight for his place, he may well have questions if Lampard brings another forward in next month.
It seems more than likely that Derby will want to keep all of their striker options even if they sign Sol. But if the Dutchman does join the Rams ahead of Rangers, then Gerrard should seriously consider asking about the 28-year-old in the hope that Waghorn wants to address his unfinished business at Ibrox.
