Rangers need a number 10 in the January transfer window as Carlos Pena struggles to impress.
Rangers manager Graeme Murty’s main transfer priority this month should surely be bringing a number 10 to Ibrox as Carlos Pena continues to struggle at Ibrox.
The Mexican powerhouse has failed to show any kind of consistency throughout the first half of the 2017-18 campaign, most recently proved with an excellent display in the 3-0 win over Aberdeen, before going missing in the next two games.
Rangers went into the Premier League during last season’s January transfer window and lured Emerson Hyndman from Bournemouth and Jon Toral from Arsenal to Glasgow.
Their creativity and goals boosted the Gers and gave the Scottish giants a much more threatening look in attack, and it is that kind of creativity and final-third tenacity that is required once again if the Light Blues are to finish above Aberdeen.
That should see Murty turn his attention to Liverpool youngster Ovie Ejaria, after the Daily Mail claimed Jurgen Klopp is willing to loan out the 20-year-old along with Wales international Ben Woodburn.
Ejaria, who can also play out wide, is best known for his ability and speed on the ball, but also boasts the football intelligence to be able to unlock a defence from central midfield.
Part of the England Under-20 side that held aloft the World Cup in South Korea this summer, Ejaria has been afforded eight senior appearances with the Anfield club but is way down the pecking order and needs game time.
His fast pace and quick feet would be perfect for the quick tempo of Scottish football, and would certainly add bite to a Rangers attack desperately in need of a spark.
With the Gers struggling to come up with a huge amount of funds, landing Ejaria on loan until the end of the season would give Murty the chance to spend his limited January budget elsewhere.
