The former Brighton star could be the perfect addition for Rangers boss Mark Warburton at Ibrox.
Brighton’s Gordon Greer
Rangers will be back playing in the Scottish Premiership next season after winning the Scottish Championship this season.
The immediate hope will be to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic to the title once again, but they are not going to do that with their defence the way it is right now.
Scotland’s Gordon Greer during training
Rangers showed a propensity to ship goals at times last season, including in the Scottish Cup final loss to Hibernian.
So an experienced defender who knows what it takes to cut it in the Scottish top-flight would be a brilliant addition at Ibrox.
Of course funds are not free-flowing at Rangers currently, but could Mark Warburton get his hands on a bargain?

Brighton announced earlier this week that club captain Gordon Greer was departing the club on a free transfer this summer.
Greer is from Glasgow and spent four impressive years with Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premier League. A nine-cap Scotland international, he will be well known to Rangers boss Warburton from his experience in the English game.
Greer facing Rangers in his Kilmarnock days
At 35-years-old he is no spring chicken but in Scottish football he should still be able to handle himself well. His experience and leadership qualities would also bring solidity to a somewhat flaky defence at Ibrox.
Rangers are not spoilt for choice in this department, but Greer would be a sensible and affordable signing.
If he could help strengthen Warburton’s defence, he could be a very shrewd addition.
