Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers could do with the Newcastle United man.
Pedro Caixinha was photographed at Tynecastle on Friday as the Rangers boss watched Hearts lose 2-1 to Newcastle United in a pre-season friendly.
Logically, the Gers manager was there to see Jamie Walker, having been linked with a £1 million third bid for the Scottish winger, according to The Scottish Sun.
But there was one player on the opposition team that Caixinha should also consider: Massadio Haidara.
Of course, he played against Hearts, and has been included in Newcastle’s squad for their trip to Ireland this week, but it is very unlikely that Rafael Benitez intends to keep him.
The 24-year-old defender is more than likely available, having failed to make a single Championship appearance in the Magpies’ promotion-winning season last term.
But do Rangers need a left-back? It is not a matter of urgency, but Caixinha could certainly do with another solid option.
Lee Wallace has been Rangers’ first-choice pick there for a number of years and although Myles Beerman looks a good prospect, he only turned 18 in March and Haidara would provide better competition for Wallace than the teenager.
He is contracted to Newcastle until 2018 and should be available for a nominal fee, should Caixinha fancy the former France Under-21 ace, who has made 37 Premier League appearances since joining in 2013.
