Rangers should offer Emerson Hyndman Ibrox return after comments on earning USA recall

Glasgow Rangers should offer Emerson Hyndman the chance to return to Ibrox on loan given his recent comments.

During a difficult first season back in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers fans struggled to pick out many positives, but one of those bright points was the form of Emerson Hyndman following his loan arrival during the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old looked bright during his time at Ibrox, often shining when he had the ball at his feet and scoring four Scottish Premiership goals for the Gers before returning to Bournemouth in the summer looking to break into the team at the Vitality Stadium.

However, with the season two months old, Hyndman has made just one appearance for the Cherries this season, playing the final four minutes of extra-time during their League Cup clash with Brighton in September.

So perhaps the Light Blues should look to make a fresh move for the former Fulham man after comments he made – reported by the Bournemouth Daily Echo – regarding adding to his two caps for the USA senior side, who are on the cusp of qualifying for next year’s World Cup.

“I think I’ve got to be playing games, that is very important to get to senior level in the national team,” he said, as reported by the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

“The US is a competitive squad to get into so I think that’s where my next step has to be – to get consistent games at a high level.

“Once that happens, I will definitely be looking to try to get into the squad.”

With Bournemouth clearly not giving Hyndman the first-team football he needs to break into the squad, Rangers should consider trying to land him on loan in January in the hope that he deems an Ibrox return as being the option that gives him the best chance of forcing his way into Bruce Arena’s plans in time for Russia next year.

Pedro Caixinha knows what the midfielder can be capable of, and adding that extra bit of creativity and quality to his ranks may prove beneficial as the Gers look to enjoy as successful a campaign as possible.

And if Hyndman does return to Ibrox on loan and enjoys a spell that inspires Arena to bring him into the international fold, then perhaps there may be scope for Rangers to try and pursue a permanent deal if Bournemouth are still unable to give him the first-team chances he craves.
