Glasgow Rangers reportedly wanted to bring Rekeem Harper to Ibrox on loan during the summer.

With Steven Davis and Lassana Coulibaly on loan, Rangers may need to bolster their midfield options during the summer, especially as they appear to be on the verge of securing a spot in Europe once again next season.
With Steven Gerrard at the helm, moving to the Gers is once again an exciting opportunity. Jermain Defoe’s arrival on loan in January suggested that the Light Blues have the ability to compete for some big names or some highly sought after players.
And that should tempt Gerrard to consider going back in for a player who was reportedly on his radar in the summer and is now being monitored by the top six in the Premier League.
The Express and Star reported in November that Rangers asked about loaning Rekeem Harper in the potential deal that could have seen James Tavernier head to West Brom in the summer.

Tavernier’s form has made the transfer not going through seem like something of a blessing. But Harper is making waves at the Hawthorns, and may be available on even better terms this summer.
The Sun on Sunday (3/3; page 68) reported at the weekend that the Baggies midfielder is out of contract in the summer, and is now being tracked all of the Premier League’s top six.
Rangers’ financial package may not compete with those currently watching Harper, but Gerrard should certainly make his own approach in the hope that the teenager would be keen on heading to Ibrox.

Like the English heavyweights, they will be able to offer European football, but they can also offer a much clearer path to regular first-team football in a side competing for silverware.
It would be a superb statement from Rangers if they could pinch Harper when you consider his contract situation and the teams already chasing him.
It could be one of the best pieces of business that Gerrard will ever do during his time as Rangers boss.
