Rangers should be looking to lure Gavin Whyte to Ibrox this summer.
Rangers have already brought in a host of new signings this summer, but new boss Steven Gerrard must now turn his attentions to landing attacking talent.
Goalkeeper Allan McGregor has been joined by defenders Jon Flanagan, Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson, as well as midfielders Scott Arfield and Ovie Ejaria, but now attacking talent must be added.
It’s unclear just who Gerrard will look to use out wide, as whilst he has Daniel Candeias and Jamie Murphy as a natural wide man, the likes of Arfield and Josh Windass offer other options, but another winger should be added.
Whilst Liverpool talents Ryan Kent, Harry Wilson and Ben Woodburn have been linked, Rangers should be looking to land a bargain and one for the future in Crusaders ace Gavin Whyte.
Whyte, 22, has been a sensation in Northern Ireland, with his total record now standing at 44 goals and 18 assists in 134 outings, sparking interest from clubs in England.
However, the Belfast Telegraph report that Leeds appear to be backing away from a deal having appointed Marcelo Bielsa as their new manager, with the focus being placed on bigger-name signings.
Whyte could still earn a move this summer off the back of his goalscoring exploits, and Rangers can afford to take a gamble on a young player given that they have experienced wide players in Murphy, Arfield and Candeias.
Rangers have enjoyed strong links with Northern Irish players over the years, and a cheap deal for Whyte would make sense as a potential star of the future without having to break the bank or throw him in before he’s ready.
