With Umar Sadiq struggling to make an impact at Rangers, Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard should look at offloading the AS Roma-owned striker and sign Fraser Hornby on loan from Everton in the January transfer window.
Signed on loan from Roma in the summer transfer window, 21-year-old Sadiq has made just two appearances in the Scottish League Cup and one in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The Nigeria international striker – who cost Roma £2 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Spezia in 2016, according to The Scottish Sun – is struggling to make matchday squads for the Gers, and it would make sense for Rangers to terminate his loan contract.
Hornby has been playing well for the Everton youth team so far this season and has also banged in the goals for the Scotland Under-21 side.
The 19-year-old forward – who is valued at €5.2 million (£4.63m) by the CIES Football Observatory – is on the sidelines at the moment after undergoing surgery on an ankle ligament injury, but the teenager hopes to be back in action early in the New Year, according to The Liverpool Echo.
Alfredo Morelos is the best striker on the books of Rangers at the moment, and Kyle Lafferty is also proven in the Scottish Premiership.

What Rangers need is a suitable back-up to Morelos and Lafferty who can make an impact off the substitutes’ bench and can chip in with goals during injury.
Hornby is unproven at club level and is only 19 years of age, but the form that the Everton youngster showed before his injury and his undeniable talent should make Rangers manager Gerrard at least consider making a loan move for him.
