Rangers interim boss Graeme Murty could well be looking to bring new players to Ibrox in January, and a Newcastle ace could be perfect.

Rangers interim manager Graeme Murty will be fully aware that his side needs balance, after former manager Pedro Caixinha tilted the scales with an influx of stars from overseas in the summer.
It has seen the Gers impress in a run of games before falling off the wagon when the pressure from fans begins to increase, with many of Caixinha’s signings not having what it takes to shine in the Scottish Premiership.
Fabio Cardoso, Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera, and Dalcio have all failed to make an adequate effect, and now Murty must team up director of football Mark Allen to bring some more trusted players suited to the top tier of Scottish football.
Highlighting what positions he needs first is crucial, and it should see him inform Allen that the Gers require a central midfielder. Last month, the Gers had Jordan Rossiter, Ryan Jack and Graham Dorrans sidelined at one point.

Jack had been suspended for a red card on Aberdeen’s Stevie May, while Rossiter and Dorrans have suffered injuries. With Murty playing a diamond formation, he needs central midfielders in abundance.
However, the recent suspensions and injuries has seen him play winger Daniel Candeias in the middle of the park as well as inexperienced 18-year-old Jamie Barjonas.
A trusted central midfielder, that can be combative and aggressive but also possessing an intricate array of passing is needed. Step forward Newcastle United’s out-of-favour ace Jack Colback.

The former Sunderland ace has been ostracised by Rafa Benitez, after being left out of the Toon’s 25-man Premier League squad. Now, website TeamTalk claim five Championship clubs are after his signature – Sunderland, Leeds, Bristol City, Derby and Reading.
But adding the Magpies midfielder to the Light Blues squad will give them a more trusted outlook from the off, a player that has rubbed shoulders with the best of the Premier League, a player that will be available on the cheap.
With Newcastle desperate to get his reported £35,000-a-week pay cheque off the wage bill, Rangers should look to convince Colback to take a pay cut and move north to Ibrox.
