Callum Paterson has moved to Cardiff City amid interest from Derby County and Rangers.

After months of speculation, Callum Paterson’s future has finally been resolved. As reported by the BBC, the highly-rated right-back has joined Cardiff City on a three-year deal after his contract at Hearts expired.
The signing of the 22-year-old is certainly a major coup for Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock. After all, there was no shortage of interest prior to the January transfer window with the Derby Telegraph reporting that Paterson was a target for Derby County.

However, he suffered an ill-timed cruciate ligament injury which ruled him out for the remainder of the season. Nonetheless, this has clearly not made Cardiff think twice about snapping Paterson up this summer.
And this may come as a major disappointment to Rangers. The Daily Record reported recently that manager Pedro Caixinha was interested in Paterson as he aims to add more domestic talent to his squad.

Paterson, who has won five caps for Scotland since making his debut against Italy last year, was one of the top full-backs in the Premiership last season and appeared ready to make the step up.
Furthermore, with Lee Hodson out of favour and the Daily Record claiming that Rangers will listen to offers for James Tavernier, the availability of Paterson appeared to be perfectly timed for a club lacking a top quality right-back.
Rangers’ James Tavernier is reportedly valued at £1.25m
Yet, while Caixinha continues to ramp up his recruitment drive with a number of overseas additions, Rangers appear to have missed out on one of the bargains of the summer.
