Glasgow Rangers youngster Billy Gilmour has agreed to leave Ibrox to join Chelsea this summer.

Rangers fans were understandably extremely disappointed when the club announced on their official website that one of the club’s brightest prospects Billy Gilmour decided to leave Ibrox this summer for Premier League champions Chelsea.

Gilmour appears to have the potential to be a very special talent, so losing him is surely a big blow for the Gers.

However, perhaps the Light Blues can put much of the disappointment of losing Gilmour behind them by going out all out to try and win the race to sign long-time target Matthew Knox this summer.

Like Gilmour, Knox is arguably one of the biggest talents coming through in the Scottish game currently, and is already a part of the first-team at Livingston, making eight appearances for the League One side this term.

The Daily Record reported back in December that Manchester United were interested in the 17-year-old, while he also had trials with the likes of Tottenham, Everton and Liverpool previously, but it was Rangers who had made a number of bids during the last summer window.

Given that Knox has been attracting Premier League interest, it would arguably be a major statement if Rangers were able to bring him to Ibrox and may perhaps repair a lot of the damage done when Gilmour’s decision to leave was announced.

For that reason, Pedro Caixinha should consider making the kind of offer that makes Knox’s current club seriously consider sanctioning a deal as while Gilmour’s future lies elsewhere, Rangers still have a chance to make one of the brightest teenagers coming through currently a focal point of their side in the future.
