Rangers are reportedly looking to bring another right-back to Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Glasgow Rangers are reportedly looking to sign another left-back, with The Scottish Sun claiming last week they have held talks over a move for Martin Olsson.

However, The Sun (9/6 p61) report Olsson would prefer to stay in English football if he leaves Swansea.

Fortunately for Rangers, an excellent alternative has just become available thanks to Burnley releasing defender Stephen Ward.

Ward, 33, is immensely experienced and may straight up be a superior option to Olsson.

The Ireland international is a veteran of more than 50 caps, and had spent the past five seasons at Burnley, four of which he was first choice until being phased out last season by Charlie Taylor.

The former Wolves defender is an ex-teammate of Rangers fan favourite Scott Arfield, with the pair part of the Burnley side which won promotion to the Premier League.

Ward would be a smart option for the Gers, providing experience and a steady option at left-back, without the club needing to give up on injury prone Croatia international Borna Barisic.

On a free transfer, he would be an excellent addition for Steven Gerrard’s side.
