Newcastle forward Ivan Toney is surplus to requirements, but could he thrive at Ibrox for Rangers?

Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney is reportedly surplus to requirements at St. James’ Park after plummeting down the pecking order under Rafa Benitez, but could Rangers see him finally realise his potential.
The Evening Chronicle claim the Premier League side will listen to offers in the summer for their highly-rated striker, as he failed to make an impact on Tyneside and is instead sent on multiple loans.
Toney, 21, struggled at Wigan Athletic earlier in the season before cancelling his loan with the Lancashire side in January and rejoining Scunthorpe United where he has scored two goals in his last four games.

He is a proven goalscorer at League One level and has featured for the Toon on four separate occasions, boasting traits such as speed and unwavering eye for goal.
Graeme Murty has taken advantage of his first transfer window in charge of the Gers by luring talent from England to Ibrox, and he is likely to be on the lookout ahead of the summer transfer window – if he remains in charge.
Toney will surely be high on any shortlist, as the Gers may fail in their bid to land Jason Cummings on a permanent basis. Alfredo Morelos’ future continues to be in doubt with interest from the Chinese Super League while Eduardo Herrera could leave.

It could leave Rangers with a lack of options up front. Perhaps more importantly, though, Rangers will want a forward that boasts the same kind of qualities as Joe Dodoo, but with the quality to have an impact.
Offering a different option in the final third, Toney would be an excellent Gers signing should they look to lure him north of the border.
