Rangers could do with another central midfielder in the summer window.
Graeme Murty’s long-term future at Rangers is in doubt, but he is not the only figure at Ibrox who is unsure over whether he is coming or going.
A handful of loan stars are yet to learn their fate, after the 43-year-old manager decided to lure Russell Martin, Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings to Ibrox on a temporary basis.
QPR loanee Goss started excellently at Ibrox, but his form has since wavered and the return of Graham Dorrans has seen him lose his place in the middle of the park.
Doubts remain over Jordan Rossiter’s future, while Andy Halliday has been used at left-back in what could be a new role for the left-footed midfielder. Ryan Jack remains on the sidelines with a long-term problem.
Replacing Goss is key not only to provide the Gers with an attacking source form deep, but to provide cover for the likes of Dorrans and Docherty. Funds, though, remain a problem.
It should see Murty consider a move for Ross County midfielder Mark O’Hara, who at 22 years old is quickly developing an excellent reputation in Scottish football. His future is unlikely to be at Dingwall, though.
He is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal despite scoring six goals from deep this season, with his current contract expiring in the summer. That can allow Rangers or any other clubs to land him on a free.
Adding the Scotland Under-21 international to Rangers squad is another step in the right direction for Murty, instead of another loan signing in Goss that is more of a sideways signing.
134 Scottish Premiership appearances under his belt already and in the goalscoring form of his life despite playing in a side struggling in the final third, O’Hara would be a cheap, yet excellent signing at Ibrox.
