The Daily Mail reported yesterday that Rangers have received a lucrative £6 million deal for Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos. The offer has come from an unnamed Chinese Super League club and, according to the report is unlikely to be accepted.

Rangers are reluctant to sell this close to the end of the transfer window as they would not be able to source a replacement for the player and the fee involved does not reportedly match their valuation.

But Rangers should cash in on the player.

Undoubtedly, the 21-year-old has been a fine signing for the club since arriving from Finnish club HJK Helsinki in the summer. His 13 goals have proved priceless and he looks a real talent but the fact is, he already has one foot out of the door.

He admitted last week, when talking to WinSports in his homeland, that he was looking to leave Rangers this summer with the Premier League his preferred destination. When he was subbed off v Aberdeen in the Gers’ last fixture, he threw his toys out of the pram.

Morelos is a fantastic striker and was a brilliant find for Rangers in the summer but in the long-run he sees Rangers as a stepping stone.

Perhaps £6 million is not enough money, but if the Glasgow club can bleed a little more from the club seemingly keen on the tempestuous Colombian hitman then Rangers should cash in and find someone who truly wants to lead the line at Ibrox.
