Norwich City look certain to let Kyle Lafferty leave – and he appears to be keen on an emotional return to Rangers.

Its five years since Kyle Lafferty left Rangers, the Ibrox giants haemorrhaging key men after liquidation robbed them of their place in the Scottish Premiership.
In that time, the Northern Ireland striker has netted just 16 league goals in Italy, Anglia, Turkey and The Midlands while simultaneously cementing his place as a bonafide Northern Ireland legend after inspiring them to a first major tournament in 30 years.
It’s fair to say Lafferty is more effective for his country than his clubs.
And perhaps this explains why Northern Ireland team-mate Lee Hodson is so determined to see the Norwich City outcast return to Ibrox this summer.
Can he cut it?
“Kyle is a great lad. He’s been performing very well for Northern Ireland, both leading up to the Euros and at the championships,” the Rangers right-back (below) told the Daily Record.

“He’s a goalscorer. He’s been here before and the fans know him very well. It would be nice to see him here but that’s down to the manager.
“Kyle has proven himself wherever he goes. Leading up to the Euros he was top goalscorer for Northern Ireland.”
Fortunately for Hodson, Lafferty seems keen on kick-starting his career at Ibrox, telling the Daily Record recently that he would jump at the chance to return.

And Rangers could certainly use a goalscorer with Kenny Miller the only player to hit double figures this season. If Lafferty can replicate the form that has seen him plunder 20 goals in 58 international appearances, there’s no doubt he’d be a superb addition to Pedro Caixinha’s frontline.
However, the 29-year-old’s substandard club form suggests Rangers should approach any deal with a great degree of caution.
