The Glasgow Rangers new-boy, who arrives at Ibrox from Motherwell, previously had loan spells at Airdrieonians and Alloa Athletic.
Glasgow Rangers new-boy Jake Hastie has received a glowing appraisal by ex-teammate Ryan Conroy, who used to play alongside the Ibrox winger at Airdrieonians (Daily Record).
The 20-year-old winger has joined the Light Blues from Motherwell after his deal at Fir Park ended in the summer, the move confirmed by Rangers back in May (official website).
A graduate of Motherwell’s academy, Hastie was given his debut in 2016, the same year he lifted the Scottish Youth Cup with the club, and he spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Aidrie, making 32 appearances and scoring three times.
Conroy, who has been at Airdrie since 2016, reckons that the Ibrox new-boy showed glimpses of the player he would become during his time at New Broomfield, suggesting that there is a lot more to come from the Scotland Under-21 winger.
“Jake was always a good player,” the 32-year-old told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser, as quoted by the Daily Record. “He was raw but when he was with us he always had those moments.
“It just shows you what can happen when you get your chance. He got that wee run at Motherwell in the team for six or seven months and he’s ended up at Rangers.”
Rangers have had a busy transfer window so far with the likes of Hastie, Steven Davis, Jordan Jones, Greg Stewart, George Edmundson, Sheyi Ojo and Joe Aribo all coming on board at Ibrox ahead of a campaign in which a return to silverware and glory seems closer than ever before.
