‘Rangers ruined Scottish football- and must now take their punishment and let it recover’

The following was written by a poster called Kieran on a story we published yesterday about Rangers’ financial woes. It is certainly thought provoking, have a read and make your own mind up…

Lets face some cold hard facts…

Rangers will never go completely they will be reborn as a new club and still play in Scotland.

Scottish football does not need a “strong Rangers”.

Back in the 80’s Aberdeen and Dundee Utd were forces in Scotland and Europe.

Rangers were getting regular crowds of 15 000 then and could not finish higher than 4th.
That was the last competitive era in Scottish football.

Since Rangers started buying every league with money that was not theirs in the late 80’s Scottish football has been in decline.

Motherwell who are now just three points behind rangers had an extra 3,000 in their last home match.
With Rangers not as strong teams like Motherwell, Dundee Utd, Aberdeen etc can fight for second place maybe even 1st and crowds will start to go back to them grounds in turn making them clubs stronger.

Also Rangers will not be able to buy every decent Scottish youngster or in fact an decent player in the SPL from them clubs.
On the subject of Sky, it has already been confirmed that there is no stipulation stating there must be 4 old firm games in a season in this new Sky contract.

Now just take your punishment with some dignity and get on with it.

At least the biggest team in Scotland is still very healthy and getting very stronger on the field.
Only team in Scotland to reach a European Cup final (twice) and of course winning one of them 🙂

And I would like to add the response from the Rangers fans has been nothing short of pathetic..

When Celtic were at deaths door in 1994 we had “Celts for change” and thousands were protesting outside the ground and boycotting the ground. Then we had a share issue which at the time was a British record for money put into a club from fans.

What do Rangers have now? they staged a bigger protest when they signed their first Catholic in 100 years in the late 80’s. Says it all really.

Do you agree with Kieran’s comments?
