Rangers star Kemar Roofe‘s stunning long-way strike against Standard Liege in the Europa League Group Stage has been picked as the best goal of the competition, beating efforts from the likes of Man United’s Bruno Fernandes, Braga star Paulinho and Spurs’ Dele.

The Ibrox striker’s goal was, briefly, the longest-range goal ever scored in the Europa League as the former Leeds star netted from 55 yards out in the closing stages of the win in Belgium.

UEFA’s team of Technical Observers picked out their list of the top ten goals scored in the Europa League this season with Roofe coming out on top of the list.

Speaking at the time, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard called it the best goal he’s ever seen in person as he lauded Roofe’s wonder strike.

After beating several Standard players and somehow managing to get the ball moving on the sodden turf, Roofe then lashed the ball home from his own half to seal the 2-0 win and get Rangers’ group stage campaign off to a winning start.
