Rangers rise could make this the most satisfying Celtic season yet

Celtic have won another trophy, Brendan Rodgers’ seventh since becoming manager.

It almost looks a bit too easy, but this season it has been anything but simple for Celtic.

They have had to fix a defence which was a liability in August, and suffered the loss of top scorer Moussa Dembele, who forced through an exit.

To have wrapped up silverware already is testament to their revival, and their success is made sweeter for having to fight for it.

That is why Celtic should welcome the emerging threat of Rangers.

Rangers top the league, proving their quality with an away win over Hearts at the weekend, even though Celtic have a game in hand.

Under Steven Gerrard, Rangers look stronger than they have done since their promotion back to the Premiership.

The Gers look ready to fight Celtic all the way, and while Rodgers’ side are still favourites to win the title, Rangers’ strength should be welcomed.

Celtic going on to win the title will be even better and their success will command more success.

Without a title challenger some seasons, their victories have almost seemed hollow at times.

Winning the league this year would make this Brendan Rodgers’ most satisfying Celtic season to date, considering all that has happened, and the increased competition.
