Rangers have a decision to make over Bongani Zungu this summer, as the midfielder is only on loan from French side Amiens.

Zungu is playing for a permanent deal at Ibrox, but hasn’t really got his Rangers career started since arriving back in October.

Steven Gerrard does have other midfield options in Steven Davis, Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo and Scott Arfield, but with Jack and Arfield enduring injury problems, another addition may be in mind.

On Thursday, the Press Association reported that Rangers are interested in signing Coventry City ace Gustavo Hamer – possibly even this month.

An “Ibrox source’ told The Scottish Sun that Rangers aren’t interested in Hamer, meaning there are conflicting noises emerging about the 23-year-old.

Hamer joined Coventry from PEC Zwolle over the summer, and has been emerging as one of the top midfielders in the Championship.

The Dutch ace often controls games in the second tier with his outstanding technique, but he’s also willing to get stuck in – and that could make him an ideal heir to Steven Davis.

Coventry fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumour, suggesting that Rangers simply can’t afford Hamer, adding that he should only be sold for £10million.

Some don’t think that Hamer should bother heading up to Scotland, believing that he is good enough for the Premier League right now.
