Rangers are reportedly keen to bring striker Fran Sol to Ibrox.

Rangers are very publicly looking for a new striker in the January transfer window, and a new name has been linked with the club today.

The Gers are sending loanee Umar Sadiq back to Roma, and with Kyle Lafferty struggling, more competition is needed for Alfredo Morelos in attack.

Rangers have been linked with the likes of Dominic Solanke and Tom Eaves already, but according to the Sunday People (16/12; page 49), Willem II striker Fran Sol is now a target too.

The Spaniard has been a goalscoring sensation in the Netherlands, hitting 20 goals in 37 games last season and 15 goals in 18 appearances so far this term.

The 26-year-old was formerly on the books of Real Madrid, but could now make a move to Ibrox if reports are to be believed – and that could just frustrate their former manager Pedro Caixinha in a shock twist.

Caixinha wanted to bring Sol to Cruz Azul earlier this year, as reported by Goal, and with his contract at Willem expiring at the end of the season, the Mexican side are likely to have kept him on their radar for a potential move.

Whilst there is big money to be made in Mexico, the lure of playing for Rangers in Europe and under Steven Gerrard could be hard to turn down, and land a striker that Caixinha strongly wanted to sign earlier this year.
