Rangers are reportedly looking to bring Ethan Robson to Ibrox.
Rangers ended the January transfer window with a host of signings, but that hasn’t stopped speculation surrounding possible summer moves already.
The Gers started the month by completing the permanent signing of Declan John, before Russell Martin, Sean Goss, Greg Docherty, Jamie Murphy, Glenn Middleton and Jason Cummings joined the club too.
Rangers mostly dealt in loan deals, and reports now suggest that they are already eyeing up a bargain pre-contract move, with The Sun claiming interest in Sunderland’s Ethan Robson.
It’s stated that Rangers – as well as Old Firm rivals Celtic – are eyeing up Robson given that his contract expires this summer, and he would cost just £150,000 in compensation to join a Scottish club.
Robson, 21, would add another midfield option to the Rangers squad, and could be seen as a bargain compensation signing, much like Josh Windass, Joe Dodoo and Jordan Rossiter before him.
However, Rangers may face a struggle to land Robson given his love for Sunderland, having come up through the ranks with the Black Cats since the age of just eight.
Robson told The Chronicle last month, after his first start for the club, that he had been waiting 13 years for his chance to become a Sunderland starter, explaining how much it meant to him and his family.
Whilst Sunderland have yet to tie him down to a new deal, Robson’s priority may be to stay with the Black Cats and continue to fulfil his lifelong dream – and give Rangers a tough task attempting to sign him.
