Rangers may be looking to sign a new striker this summer – and a new name has been linked with the club this week.

Oostende’s Fashion Sakala is one name heavily linked, but Give Me Sport now claim that Rangers fancy signing Middlesbrough’s Britt Assombalonga.

Assombalonga was signed for £15million in 2017, but will become a free agent this summer and is likely to leave for nothing.

The 28-year-old has only managed five goals in 29 Championship games this season, which may leave Rangers fans a little worried.

Assombalonga’s record in the has been great; double figured in his previous three seasons and 30 goals in 65 games at Nottingham Forest.

Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson may have seen something they like in Assombalonga, and he may well be worth a punt on a free transfer.

However, Boro fans seemingly can’t wait to see the back of Assombalonga, offering to pay his taxi fare or even drive him to Glasgow themselves.

Others can’t believe that Assombalonga could play in the Champions League next season, and are urging Boro to resist the temptation to offer him a new deal and simply let him go instead.
