Nottingham Forest have made a bid for Rangers defender James Tavernier, according to The Scotsman.

According to the report, Tavernier is one of the players Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha wants to offload in the summer transfer window.

It has also been reported that Forest, who feature in the Championship in England, will make a second bid for the 25-year-old right-back.

Forest manager Mark Warburton worked with the former Newcastle United man at Rangers and knows the defender very well.

It seems that Warburton rates the Rangers right-back very highly, and a reunion at the City Ground does make sense.

If Rangers do not want Tavernier and Forest do, then it is best for everyone concerned to reach an agreement.

Tavernier is a good right-back and knows English football very well; the former Wigan Athletic man could prove to be a good signing for the Reds.

Forest narrowly escaped relegation to League One at the end of the 2016-17 campaign and will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship next season.
