Rangers reportedly turn down £7.5m bid for Alfredo Morelos

Ibrox striker Alfredo Morelos has been linked with a move away from Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers.

Rangers have turned down an offer from Beijing Renhe for Ibrox striker Alfredo Morelos, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Rangers chairman Dave King has rejected a £7.5 million bid from the Chinese Super League club.

King is reluctant to sell the Colombian striker in the January transfer window, according to the report, which also claims that he knows that the 2017 summer signing could attract an even bigger transfer fee in the summer of 2018.

The 21-year-old joined Rangers from HJK Helsinki in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £1 million.

Morelos has established himself as a key figure at Rangers and is the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership at the moment with 11 goals.

While £7.5m is a lot of money, Rangers chairman King is right to turn it down, as manager Graeme Murty needs Morelos for the second half of the season.

Although Jason Cummings has joined the Gers on loan from Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window, Morelos is the first-choice striker, and him scoring goals in the second half of the season is key to the Glasgow giants’ quest to finish second in the Scottish Premiership table.
