It has been reported that Rangers manager Gerrard has told Docherty that the 21-year-old midfielder does not feature in his plans for the 2018-19 campaign.
The Scotland Under-21 international midfielder could move to a club in League One in England this summer, claims the report.
Good decision regarding Greg Docherty?
That Rangers want Docherty to leave Ibrox on loan, as reported by The Daily Record, suggests that manager Gerrard does think that the youngster will be a success at Ibrox in the long run.
With competition for places in the Rangers midfield fierce this season, it would make sense for the Scottish youngster to find another club where he can play regularly and develop at his own pace.

Docherty joined Rangers from Hamilton Academical in the January transfer window for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £600,000.
The 21-year-old midfielder was able to make only five appearances the Scottish Premiership for Rangers last season following his move from Hamilton in January, according to WhoScored.
