Ex-Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor is reportedly nearing a return to Ibrox.
According to reports from the Daily Record, Rangers are poised to complete the signing of Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor on a free transfer.
The Gers are already pressing ahead with a deal for Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield, but are now set to hand McGregor an Ibrox return, six years since leaving the club.
McGregor, 36, racked up nearly 300 appearances in his first stint at Rangers, and will now return to presumably serve as first-choice goalkeeper at Ibrox next season, which will raise question marks over the future of Wes Foderingham.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper joined Rangers from Swindon Town back in 2015, and has racked up more than 100 appearances for the club having immediately taken the No. 1 jersey.
Whilst Foderingham has been a fairly reliable goalkeeper and even signed a new contract earlier this season, some Rangers fans now believe that the time is right for Foderingham to go and allow McGregor to be Gers shot-stopper once again.
A return to England could be on the cards for Foderingham as a result, and one club who should be monitoring his situation at Ibrox is Leeds United, who are in desperate need of another goalkeeper.
Felix Wiedwald has been a disaster since arriving from Werder Bremen last summer, whilst Bailey Peacock-Farrell is only a rookie and a more experienced alternative may be needed.
Foderingham isn’t the most commanding goalkeeper of all time, but he is adept at playing out from the back and possesses impressive athleticism, whilst the fact that he is approaching his prime means that Leeds could land themselves a first-choice goalkeeper this summer by attempting to raid Rangers for the ex-Fulham man.
