Rangers have reportedly missed out on striker Louis Moult.

Rangers are busy searching for a new manager, but they also appear to have missed out on a transfer target ahead of the January transfer window.
The Gers sacked Pedro Caixinha back in October, and remarkably still haven’t managed to bring in a replacement for the Portuguese boss, nearly two months since his exit.
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes snubbed Rangers’ approach last week, and another snub appears to have arrived this week, with The Scottish Sun reporting that Motherwell striker Louis Moult has snubbed interest from Rangers.

Moult will instead join Championship side Preston North End in January, bringing an end to his time in Scotland after nearly three years at Fir Park, where he has hit 50 goals in all competitions.
The 25-year-old was seen by many Rangers fans as an important potential addition given his goal record with Motherwell, but whilst the Gers were allegedly looking to sign him, he has instead decided to return to England.
Losing out to Preston for a signing is something that Rangers may not be too familiar with, but the chaos at Ibrox over the managerial situation may well be a factor if the Gers did really miss out on Moult.

With no manager in place just weeks away from the January transfer window, players may not be willing to commit their futures to Rangers given that a new manager could be brought in and have different plans, running the risk of being frozen out under a different manager – much as Harry Forrester and Rob Kiernan were under Pedro Caixinha having been regulars under previous boss Mark Warburton.
Rangers have to hope that Moult’s decision isn’t a recurring theme, but with no clear plan in place moving forward, the Gers may well find that bringing in January signings is a little difficult, with director of football Mark Allen taking charge of transfers rather than caretaker boss Graeme Murty.
The pull of playing for Rangers at Ibrox should still be enough to get some deals over the line, but not having a manager could be a problem, as potential targets consider their futures ahead of the January transfer window.
