Rangers have been linked with Nikola Katic, with The Daily Record claiming that the 21-year-old defender is on the radar of Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club.

It has been reported that Rangers made an enquiry to Slaven Belupo regarding signing the defender three weeks ago.

However, the Gers reportedly made no concrete offer for the youngster, who is now claimed to be heading to Russia for talks with Spartak Moscow, who finished third in the Russian Premier League this past season and will enter the 2018-19 Champions League third qualifying round.

According to The Daily Record, Katic, who was reportedly identified as a transfer target by Rangers manager Steven Gerrard in May, is due in Moscow on Tuesday to hold discussions with Spartak.

Rangers missing out?

It seems that Rangers are set to miss out on Katic, who is a very talented and promising young defender.

The Croatia international could develop into a superb centre-back, and the Gers’ loss would be Spartak’s gain.
