It has been reported that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard sees McDonald as an alternative to Southampton midfielder Steven Davis – who earns £60,000 per week as salary, according to The Daily Record.
While the Rangers boss is keen on securing the services of Davis, Gerrard is keeping his options open and has identified McDonald as an alternative to the 33-year-old Northern Ireland international midfielder, according to The Daily Record.
“It’s understood Fulham have made it clear they will not be difficult to deal with if McDonald wishes to leave the club next month either on loan or a more permanent deal,” adds the report.
Good signing for Rangers?
McDonald is only 30 years of age, and the Scotland international still has a few more years left in him at the top level.
The former Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder will be a very good signing for Rangers in the January transfer window.
With Fulham reportedly open to McDonald to leaving Craven Cottage next month, Rangers will probably not find it tough to make a deal.
Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 42 points from 21 matches, level on points with leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have played a game more.
