Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are facing some stiff competition to bring Vaclav Hladky to Ibrox this summer, according to The Scottish Sun.
The Scottish Sun has claimed that Rangers manager Gerrard wants to sign Hladky on a free transfer this summer.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper is out of contract at St. Mirren this summer and is becoming a free agent.
According to The Scottish Sun, German club Fortuna Dusseldorf have made contact with the Czech’s representatives and have registered their interest.
The report has added that as many as three clubs from England have also made their interest known in the former Slovan Liberec player, who “did an excellent job for St Mirren”, according to former Buddies goalkeeper Craig Samson, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.
Stiff competition
It seems that Rangers have their work cut out regarding signing Hladky on a free transfer this summer.
While Allan McGregor will remain the first-choice goalkeeper at Ibrox next season, with Wes Foderingham having left the Gers this summer, manager Gerrard does need to bring in a suitable replacement who will challenge for a regular spot in the starting lineup.
Rangers need a strong and competitive squad to win the Scottish Premiership title next season.
