Rangers expect to lose Ibrox midfielder Josh Windass to Cardiff City in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

Earlier this month, The Scottish Sun claimed that Cardiff were planning to make a bid of £1.5 million for Rangers midfielder Windass this summer.

Josh Windass of Rangers scores the opening goal during the Rangers v Celtic Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Express (print edition, page 55, June 28, 2018) has suggested that the Premier League club are ready to trigger the £3 million release clause in the 24-year-old midfielder (click here to read more).

Big loss for Rangers?

Windass has had issues with consistency, but the midfielder is a very good player who has a lot of potential.

It would be a miss for Rangers if Windass does leave in the summer transfer window, although Steven Gerrard’s side would be able to invest the £3 million reported fee they would get in the squad for the 2018-19 campaign.

Rangers will be aiming to compete with Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season.
