Rangers are reportedly close to bringing Steven Davis to Ibrox.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, Rangers are poised to snap up Southampton veteran Steven Davis and bring him back to Ibrox in January.
Davis, 33, is seen as a midfielder who can give Rangers more control in the middle of the park, which is something they have desperately lacked at times this season.
The Northern Irishman will certainly help Rangers in that regard, but boss Steven Gerrard shouldn’t stop at adding Davis to solve his midfield woes.
Rangers would still need a dynamic, creative midfielder who go and and score goals, offering a more attacking option to the measured control of Davis.
Last week, The Mirror reported that Rangers boss Gerrard is keen to raid a former Merseyside rival, as Everton playmaker Kieran Dowell was on his wish list.
Dowell, 21, fits the bill perfectly. The Everton man has struggled for playing time this season, and needs to get out and play elsewhere.

With his youth, exuberance and quality in the final third, Dowell should remain a top Gerrard target even with Davis seemingly Ibrox-bound.
Having the defensive ability of Ryan Jack alongside the maturity and composure of Davis as well as the flair of Dowell could give Gerrard the balanced midfield trio he has been looking for, and Rangers’ recruitment in midfield should not end with Davis.
