Rangers are reportedly pursuing a January deal for Aberdeen ace Kenny McLean.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are preparing a January move to sign Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean – and such a deal would surely spell bad news for Jason Holt.
The Gers made 11 new signings over the summer, often exploiting the Portuguese and Mexican markets, with two domestic targets escaping their grasp.
Rangers did hope to bring in Hearts winger Jamie Walker and Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean to boost their squad, but they missed out on both players after failing with summer bids, as noted by The Scottish Sun.

With both players out of contract at the end of the season, Rangers could launch new moves for the Scottish pair in 2018 – and The Scottish Sun report that the Gers are lining up a January bid for midfielder McLean.
McLean, 25, would add real quality to the Rangers midfield having impressed for Aberdeen since signing from St. Mirren in 2015, but his potential arrival may be bad news for Jason Holt.
Rangers signed three central midfielders over the summer by snapping up Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans and Carlos Pena, whilst manager Pedro Caixinha also has Jordan Rossiter and Niko Kranjcar available at his disposal, as well as youngster Jamie Barjonas.

Holt, 24, has yet to feature in the Premiership this season and looks to be slipping down the Rangers pecking order, with his first-team chances unlikely to be aided by a possible move for another midfielder in McLean.
With almost three years still left on his deal at Ibrox, Holt may want to stick it out and try to save his Rangers career, but if Caixinha signs a fourth central midfielder in less than a year, the writing may well be on the wall for Holt.
