Rangers fans saw Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe shine in front of goal last season, but other strikers failed to really shine.

Kyle Lafferty struggled upon his return to Ibrox having re-signed from Hearts last summer, and the signing of striker Umar Sadiq didn’t work out.

Taking the youngster on loan from Roma always looked like a gamble, as he had little track record of success before making his way to Ibrox.

The Nigerian attacker was a big presence physically, whilst he also had a turn of pace – but technically he was lacking, and he wasn’t enough of a goal threat.

Fans will remember his dismal showing against Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup semi-final, and his time with Rangers was cut short without even scoring a goal.

This summer, Sadiq has moved on to Partizan Belgrade, and it’s been something of a mixed start. The good news for him is that he’s recorded four goals and one assist in 11 outings for the Serbian side.

However, Sadiq has been mocked in recent days, as the Daily Record carried a comical video of the 22-year-old rounding a goalkeeper in Serbia before managing to hit the post with the goal at his mercy.

That kind of sums up Sadiq; flashes of quality and then moments of disaster, and Rangers will absolutely feel that they’re better off without him as he looks to re-establish himself over in Serbia.
