Rangers have reportedly reignited their interest in Standard Liege youngster Nicolas Raskin, though Club Brugge are also keen on signing the 21-year-old midfielder.
According to Voetbal Nieuws, the Glasgow side are just one of three top clubs chasing Raskin heading into the January transfer window, with Brugge and Serie A side Speiza also interested in signing the Belgian talent, whose contract expires at the end of this season.
Making 18 appearances in all competitions, Raskin has been a regular for Liege this season and one of the standout talents in the Jupiler Pro League, with interest from Brugge, who qualified for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 this campaign, particularly noteworthy.
Whilst Rangers are a huge club, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side could struggle to sign Raskin with a Champions League club in Brugge now keeping tabs on the Liege star. Especially with the midfielder set to leave the Belgian club in 2023 anyway.

Indeed, Rangers will need quality signings if they’re to salvage anything from this season, which has been nothing short of a disastrous after their historically terrible Champions League campaign and their pitiful attempt at a title charge alongside Celtic. Yet signing Raskin could help.
Hailed as a ‘monstrous’ by Liege manager and former Celtic coach Ronny Deila, Raskin would add energy and youth to a Rangers midfield that is currently lacking in both departments. And whilst competition might be strong for the youngster, the Bears have all the tools needed to pull off the signing.
Rangers must beat Brugge to Raskin signing in January

January is shaping up to be a monumental month for Rangers and their aspirations to remain one of the biggest clubs in Britain, with Celtic running away with the title and their European ambitions shattered after their Champions League horrorshow. This is why signing Raskin is so crucial to the Glasgow side.
After all, the midfielder would solve a lot of problems Rangers have in the current squad. And although competition from Brugge is a challenge, the Scottish giants simply have to do all they can to bring the Belgian talent to Ibrox in the winter window, with a move potentially season-defining.
