Rangers return to Premiership action this weekend when they make the trip north to Dingwall to face Ross County – and Gers boss Steven Gerrard faces a real dilemma over his selection after another disappointing performance in the 1-0 win over Alashkert on Thursday night.

Despite winning 1-0 with 10 men, Rangers were miles off their best against the Armenians and it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see Gerrard wield the axe this weekend in response.

The Ibrox boss has already dropped Borna Barisic before hooking Ryan Kent at the break against Alashkert as it appears his patience with his underperforming stars wears thin.

Despite keeping a clean sheet at Ibrox on Thursday, Gerrard’s habit of switching his keepers is likely to continue with Jon McLaughlin given the nod ahead of Allan McGregor.

The back four is also likely to see at least a couplee of changes with Nathan Patterson, Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun and Borna Barisic our pick to start ahead of McLaughlin against the Staggies.

John Lundstram’s red card on Thursday will have done him no favours and the return of Glen Kamara from suspension should see him join Steven Davis and Ianis Hagi in the midfield three.

Ahead of them, Gerrard could decide to stick with Ryan Kent, despite subbing him at half-time last night, for Scott Wright while Alfredo Morelos is almost certain to start alongside Wright.

The third attacker spot could be filled by a number of players but after missing out against Alashkert, a return to the side for Kemar Roofe makes sense given his importance in front of goal so far.

However, with the return leg in Armenia rapidly approaching, Gerrard will have one eye on next Thursday but the Gers boss will be acutely aware of the fact that his side simply can’t afford another poor performance.

Predicted Rangers XI v Ross County: Jon McLaughlin; Nathan Patterson, Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun Borna Barisic; Steven Davis, Glen Kamara, Ianis Hagi; Kemar Roofe, Scott Wright, Alfredo Morelos
