Rangers are back in European action tonight, as they take on Benfica in their third Europa League group stage game of the season.

The Gers have beaten Standard Liege 2-0 and Lech Poznan 1-0 so far, but now face their toughest task yet as they travel to face Benfica.

Steven Gerrard rotated some of his side against Kilmarnock on Sunday, and with that in mind, here is our predicted lineup for tonight’s game…

Allan McGregor is firmly entrenched as Rangers’ first-choice goalkeeper after Jon McLaughlin’s impressive early season form, so we’re backing him to start.

James Tavernier and Borna Barisic will surely feature as the full backs, given that they’re two of Gerrard’s key men in the Rangers defence.

Connor Goldson will almost certainly be one of the centre backs, whilst we’re backing Filip Helander to partner him due to his impressive European displays over the course of his Rangers career, with Leon Balogun back on the bench after starting against Poznan.

Gerrard’s first-choice midfield of late has been Steven Davis, Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield, and for such a big game, they will be favourites to start again.

Ryan Kent should feature on the left, and we’re backing Joe Aribo to feature on the right, with his ability carrying the ball and offering some athleticism on the counter giving him the nod over Ianis Hagi.

Kemar Roofe started against Lech Poznan last week, but Alfredo Morelos should lead the line this time.

Predicted Rangers XI tonight: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic; Davis, Kamara, Arfield; Aribo, Kent, Morelos.
