Steven Gerrard is expected to bring back star striker Alfredo Morelos ahead of Wednesday night’s clash between Rangers and Hibernian at Easter Road, after the Colombian served his suspension.

Morelos, 22, has been on fire for Rangers this season, but his problems with ill-discipline remain. It saw him suspended for the Gers’ last two Scottish Premiership fixtures against Hamilton and Dundee.

Now, he returns to the side which is likely to see Kyle Lafferty drop to the bench, after the Ibrox icon failed to find the back of the net against Hamilton on Sunday – hitting the post from two yards out.

Meanwhile, Gerrard has little manoeuvrability when it comes to rotation in the middle of the park with Graham Dorrans injured and Ovie Ejaria leaving Ibrox.

But Ross McCrorie should be dropped against a side like Hibernian, with Neil Lennon’s side likely to be raring to go after beating Celtic 2-0 on Sunday. Experience is needed in the middle of the park.

That means Gerrard could start Jack in holding midfield instead of McCrorie, bringing in Lassana Coulibaly into the middle of the park alongside Scott Arfield.

Out wide, £2million summer signing (BBC Sport) Eros Grezda was poor against Hamilton and it should convince Gerrard to bring in Glenn Middleton. Three changes then, Morelos, Coulibaly and Middleton in for Lafferty, McCrorie and Grezda.
