Glasgow Rangers will be hoping to bounce back from back to back defeats at Ibrox when they return to Scottish Premiership action this weekend.
Rangers will be hoping that the international break has done them the world of good as they go into Saturday’s away game looking to bounce back from back to back defeats at Ibrox that have left them in a precarious position in the Scottish Premiership.
Graeme Murty’s side are now just two points clear of Aberdeen and have played a game more, so they undoubtedly need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible if they want to hold onto second in the league.
And with the Scottish Cup semi-final on the horizon, the Gers will be hoping that this weekend’s trip to Fir Park to take on Motherwell sees them start to build some momentum back up.
It appears that Murty will be boosted by some significant injury news ahead of the game. Graham Dorrans has not played for the Gers since Pedro Caixinha’s final game in charge back in October, but he has featured in a couple of bounce games so may be in contention to feature against Well.
Dorrans scored twice at the ground on the opening day of the season, so it may be the ideal game for the summer signing to come back in at the expense of Sean Goss, who has been disappointing in the last two fixtures after such a stunning start to his Ibrox career.
The other big decision facing the boss appears to come up front. Jason Cummings started against Killie and failed to find the back of the net, so another chance may be given to Alfredo Morelos, despite his own disappointing form of late. Murty may think differently and feel that the loanee deserves a run in the side.
But with Cummings being called up by Scotland while Morelos stayed with the Gers, perhaps the safer option would be to pick the latter this weekend.
Other than that, it may not be too great a surprise if Murty keeps faith with the remaining nine players who started last time out. That may partially be down to their previous form or, in some cases, due to the lack of other options he has available in his first-team.
