Glasgow Rangers will be hoping that they can secure a result that mirrors the previous Old Firm meeting at Ibrox in December.
Steven Gerrard showed during the previous Old Firm meeting that he knows how to guide Rangers to a victory against their bitter rivals, but he now needs to prove that he can do the same at Parkhead to keep the Gers’ slim title hopes alive.
The only surprise by the end of December’s clash at Ibrox was that Rangers did not win by more. The Light Blues were excellent and got their rewards when Ryan Kent’s outstanding work allowed Ryan Jack to score the game’s only goal.
Gerrard’s men go into Sunday off the back of a four-match winless run, and the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership has been extended to 10 points. The title charge appears to be off the table, but a win for Rangers this weekend will give Neil Lennon something to think about with Celtic hardly capturing the imagination since his return despite their impressive results.
There is an injury concern for Gerrard to contend with, with Borna Barisic set to miss out. If Andy Halliday is fit – he was replaced after 45 minutes against Kilmarnock before the international break – he will surely start after his superb performance in December.
It would be little surprise if Joe Worrall replaced Nikola Katic at centre-back. Worrall was another player who put in his best display of the season against the Hoops, and he has the confidence to not be overawed by the situation.
Another change may come in the middle of the park, with Jack potentially returning to replace Lassana Coulibaly. Glen Kamara and Steven Davis may get the nod alongside him, but the likes of Ross McCrorie and Scott Arfield could also be considered if fit and ready.
Daniel Candeias may get another chance alongside Alfredo Morelos and Kent. The Portuguese’s form has not been impressive lately, but his defensive contribution could be crucial.
