Glasgow Rangers welcome Aberdeen to Ibrox for a Scottish Premiership clash – with more than just three points at stake.
Rangers and Aberdeen go head-to-head in the Scottish Premiership, with both sides in desperate need of the points to keep the pace with second placed Heart of Midlothian.
Rangers are currently third in the standings and know that a victory against fourth positioned Aberdeen would extend their two point lead over the Dons.
An away win though, and Rangers won’t just be losing out on third – they will be saying farewell to an incredible 25 year unbeaten record in this fixture.
Visitors Aberdeen have not tasted victory at Ibrox for a quarter of a century – a 2-0 win in September 1991 against a Rangers side that included the talents of Andy Goram, Mark Hateley, Stuart McCall and Nigel Spackman.
For this weekend’s encounter, Rangers’ manager Mark Warburton may keep faith with the same XI that fell to a disappointing loss against Hearts last time out.
This would mean goalkeeper Wes Foderingham continues behind a back four of James Tavernier, Rob Kiernan, Danny Wilson and Lee Wallace.
In midfield, Warburton looks set to deploy the trio of Matt Crooks, Jason Holt and Andy Halliday in the Rangers engine room – with a front line of Harry Forrester, Kenny Miller and Joe Dodoo.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen will be hoping to bounce back from their Scottish League Cup final defeat to Celtic last weekend, by overtaking Rangers and ending the 25 year barren record.
Manager Derek McInnes may change the staring XI that faced the hooped side of Glasgow – by recalling Niall McGinn for Ash Taylor, with Graeme Shinnie returning to the left back slot.
