Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers could reportedly re-sign Ryan Kent – and what a horrible 24-hour period it could be for Jordan Jones.

Jordan Jones of Rangers FC looks dejected after the Ladbrokes Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on September 01, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers winger Jordan Jones had an Old Firm derby to forget.

Not only was the boyhood Gers fan benched by Steven Gerrard for his first clash against Celtic, but Jones was sent off late on for a wild lunge on Mortiz Bauer.

To make matters worse, the Rangers man, who moved to Glasgow this summer, also injured himself in making the tackle and was pictured leaving Ibrox on crutches.

What a stinker for the 24-year-old – but things might be about to get much worse for him.

If rumours are believed, Rangers are close to agreeing a deadline-day deal to re-sign Ryan Kent from Liverpool [The Mirror].

Jones already wasn’t Gerrard’s first-choice option for the left wing, evident by the fact he didn’t start on Sunday, but if Kent arrives then it spells bad news for the Northern Irishman.

Kent had an outstanding season-long loan under Gerrard last term and the simple fact is that Jones’s playing time will be impacted if and when this transfer materialises.

He has managed 470 minutes of football for the light Blues in all competitions. Rangers have had 13 matches overall, the equivalent of 1,170 minutes.

Before his moment of madness against Celtic, Jones had been a squad player more or less but, with Kent possibly in the equation shortly, it wouldn’t be surprising if he majorly struggles for regular football – when he’s fit again.

Speaking directly after the derby, Gerrard said: “He deserves the red card and he deserves his ban and he’s got everything to do now to get back in my team [Belfast Telegraph].”

That might be a huge understatement if Kent returns North.
