Celtic have a better shot of landing Michy Batshuayi than Rangers but would have to give up a lot.
Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi scores
Glasgow Rangers have credited with surprise interest in Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.
The Mirror report Rangers are one of several teams looking to take Batshuayi on loan.
While Rangers may be hopeful they can convince the Belgian to join them, it is rivals Celtic who hold the ace.
Celtic have a far better chance of landing Batshuayi and that is thanks to Chelsea’s interest in star striker Moussa Dembele.
Celtic’s Moussa Dembele
The London Evening Standard report Dembele is on Chelsea’s shortlist of striker targets this summer.
It might seem foolhardy for Celtic to give up Dembele to get Batshuayi on loan for just a year – but if Dembele is determined to move on, and join Chelsea anyway, then they would be smart to demand the Belgian as part of the package.
Batshuayi started only one game in the Premier League last season after his £33 million move from Marseille but managed to get on the scoresheet from the substitute’s bench.
He scored the title winning goal for Chelsea against West Brom but manager Antonio Conte remains unconvinced he will be a starter next season.
There is serious competition for his signature, with The Mirror reporting Monaco are among the suitors.
