Rangers are looking at a deal for midfielder Tom Davies with Michael Beale full of praise for him when asked about Davies – and given the Ibrox side are owed cash by Everton, surely a deal would be easy to orchestrate this month.

When Everton signed Nathan Patterson from Rangers, many Ibrox supporters were delighted at the reported figure they were receiving. However, football finance expert Kieran Maguire says the £11million figure is paid in instalments.

Speaking to This Is Ibroxas per Ibrox News – in September, Maguire said that Everton are paying three instalments of £3.7million. The first paid when Patterson joined, and the second instalment came this month. The third is still owed.

So, Everton still owe Rangers a fee of £3.7million – and it is unclear when that figure will be transferred. Rangers are now said to be interested in Davies. Beale was full of praise for Davies when quizzed about a move for the Everton ace.

Surely Davies deal easy to orchestrate with Rangers owed cash by Everton

Davies, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season. An Everton academy graduate, he has starred at times for the Toffees – clocking up 169 appearances for his boyhood club. But he has failed to kick on and live up to the early hype.

With his contract coming up, Everton will surely be keen to offload Davies this month. He is only a fringe player at Goodison Park under Frank Lampard. They would rather bring in a fee, even if a cut-price one, rather than nothing.

So, if it is true that Rangers are still owed £3.7million by Everton for Patterson’s transfer, you would expect that a deal could be done. Perhaps, Rangers could waive the payment – and instead, bring Davies to Ibrox in the coming weeks.

A move that would suit all. Davies needs a new club and Rangers will surely prove tempting. Everton are hardly flush with cash and would prefer not to pay, while such a move would save Rangers having to pay from their current coffers.
