Rangers winger Jake Hastie appears to be on the way out of the exit door at Ibrox after spending much of pre-season with the Gers’ kids – and a new report claims Partick Thistle could offer him a temporary escape.

According to the Scottish Sun, the Jags want to add Hastie to their ranks as they return to the Championship – with Ian McCall’s side already reportedly keen on a loan move for Lewis Mayo.

Hastie’s time at Ibrox has largely been a disappointment with the winger spending most of his spell out on loan.

He returned to former club Motherwell last season but struggled to get into the side until the final weeks of the season under Graham Alexander.

After only getting involved with the first-team at Ibrox this summer after the B team had wrapped up their preparations for the new season, a Rangers departure seems inevitable.

The Championship should be a level that the Rangers outcast is able to consistently excel at so if he does move to Thistle it should be a good fit.

Rangers and Partick have built up a good working relationship in recent years, with the Gers sending a handful of players to Firhill on loan.

Kieran Wright and Rhys Breen both spent time there last term, with Wright excelling for the Jags, and Hastie will hope to replicate that.

Whether it gives him a chance to revive his Rangers career is anyone’s guess but, as things stand, things can’t get much bleaker at Ibrox for Hastie.
