Josh Windass could be given a fresh start by QPR after falling out of favour at Rangers.

Rangers may be acting a little hastily casting off Josh Windass after just one season at Ibrox.

At the age of just 23, Windass has plenty of time for development and, though he only featured in 21 league games in his debut season in Scotland, the former Accrington Stanley favourite has the potential to be the energetic, goalscoring midfielder Rangers are crying out for.

However, with Rotherham United boss Paul Warne cooling speculation that The Millers could attempt to land Windass this summer, the Daily Record reported that he could be stuck in perjury at Ibrox.

Manager Pedro Caixinha doesn’t appear to see Windass as a vital part of his plans, barely using the midfielder after taking over from Mark Warburton in March and enhancing his options with the signings of Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans and Carlos Pena.

However, HITC sources are telling us that Windass may be offered an escape route after all with QPR considering an approach this summer. And a move to Loftus Road may be the best option available to the Hull-born youngster.

After all, Windass could guarantee that he will be valued at QPR. According to the Daily Mail, the London club were very keen when he burst onto the scene with Accrington in 2015/16, netting 15 goals in 30 games to help them finish fourth in League Two.

Furthermore, there is plenty of room in QPR’s midfield for the attack-minded Windass. Tjaronn Chery was the club’s highest scoring midfielder last season with just four and he left for China in January.

And Windass could be the forceful operator QPR have been looking for since the Dutchman’s departure. Swapping one Rangers for another could be excellent business for both player and club.
